A tiny flame, I’m nurturing
It all started with an eight week ceramics course at my local college, it gave me a taste for working with clay and the endless possibilities. You see up until then my working life has been working on a computer, I’m a web designer by trade and have been 20+ years in business with my husband running a small design company.
I then looked for a place where I could go to practice more and learn wheel throwing which led me to The Shed in Torquay, a great community pottery. One session a week led to two sessions a week and after family encouragement I bought a wheel and found a little space at home where I could start to become a maker. I’ve just added a small kiln to my set up.
I’m not building an empire, I’m building a life
Christmas 2024 I did my first market, the feedback was amazing and I sold lots of pottery. Following this I was approached by some local shops who support work which is solely handmade, I now regularly drop off a few pots. I’ve also created an Etsy shop.
I’m feeling ready to take on a bit more, I’m daring to dream.
